Restylane® Frequently Asked Questions
Q:WHAT CAN RESTYLANE DO FOR ME?
A: Restylane helps to smooth lines, create pretty lips and restore cheeks to their former glory, so with a treatment you’ll look more youthful and fresh faced for around a year. The range has been created to work at different levels in the skin, from correcting sun damage with Restylane Vital Light to a non-surgical mid face-lift with Restylane SubQ.
Q: HOW DOES RESTYLANE WORK?
A: Youthful skin is rich in hyaluronic acid (HA): a substance that binds water, hydrates the skin and promotes allimportant
softness and fullness. However, as we age, our HA gradually becomes less efficient which leads to the loss of natural elasticity and youthful volume. Restylane is Stabilized Non-Animal Hyaluronic Acid gel (NASHA).
When injected into the skin it gives Nature a helping hand. Restylane boosts the skin’s hydration system, stimulates the production of collegen1 and restores youthful volume by supporting the skin’s structure to delay the signs of ageing and encourage the production of healthy, glowing skin.
Q: IS RESTYLANE SAFE?
A: The beauty of Restylane is that its safety and efficacy is clinically proven and this is what sets it apart from other injectable treatments, with over 10 million treatments worldwide and over 13 years of clinical excellence as testimony to its safety and quality.
Q: HOW IS RESTYLANE GEL MADE?
A: The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is produced by a unique and patented process involving minimal chemical interference. As a result the hyaluronic acid gel in Restylane closely resembles our own HA which means that the risk of inflammatory reactions is minimised and treatment results are long lasting.
Q: WHAT DOES RESTYLANE TREATMENT INVOLVE?
A: The Restylane gel is injected in tiny quantities using a fine needle. It can be used to soften lines, add fullness and boost condition and tone. The procedure takes about 20 minutes. The treatment benefits can be seen instantly and Restylane does not affect facial expression. No skin test is required because Restylane does not contain any animalderived ingredients. Restylane and Restylane Perlane contain pain-reducing lidocaine for a comfortable treatment experience. Restylane is ideal for treating all areas of the face, neck, décolletage and hands.
Q: IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME WITH RESTYLANE?
A: You can expect slight redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, itching and/or bruising following Restylane treatment.
This is the same as you might expect with any type of injection. However, this is temporary and generally disappears after a few days. With lip enhancement, it is wise to choose your treatment time with care since your lips may become swollen and appear slightly uneven for a few days.
Q: HOW LONG DO THE EFFECTS OF RESTYLANE LAST?
A: One of the great advantages of Restylane is that the effects are long lasting but not permanent. You are always in control of your looks. Recent clinical studies show that topup treatments prolong duration to around eighteen months. Facial lines and facial shaping: top-up treatment is usually needed after 6-12 months. Lip enhancement: top-up treatment is normally needed in about 6 months. Skin revitalization: after an initial intense treatment of 3 sessions 2-3 weeks apart, top-up sessions are normally recommended around every 6 months.
Q: HOW MUCH DOES A RESTYLANE TREATMENT COST?
A: During your pre-treatment consultation, you should discuss the cost of the treatment with your practitioner.
Q: WHO PROVIDES RESTYLANE TREATMENTS?
A: Only medically qualified healthcare professionals should administer Restylane injections e.g. plastic surgeons,
dentists, doctors and registered nurses.
